Emails not being moved from Inbox after processing & Question re Folders

Hi

I've watched the video tutorials and read the PDF Guide.

First:

After emails to an Outlook appointment, the original emails remain in the inbox, despite setting up the Options to Move Emails on all Events. What am i doing wrong?

Second:

I am confused about the Folders. I have both Desktop and Outlook folders set up that correspond to many projects. Should I use both? is there a preference for one or the other?

Hi Tess -

Regarding folders - it's okay to use both an Outlook folder and a Windows folder.  Generally, the Outlook folder is a good place to store e-mail messages, whereas the Windows folder is useful for saving attachments.  I tend to set up both folders for larger projects.

Regarding moving an e-mail message after Defer to Calendar.  Be sure that the options are set properly, i.e. the radio button for move mail rules is set to "Move Mail on all Events" or "Move Mail on specific Events" and the "Defer to Calendar" check box is checked.  If the Location choice is "Move to Associated Project Outlook Folder", be sure that when you select a Project while making a calendar item from an e-mail, that the Project selected has (via the Project Properties) and Outlook Folder specified.

If that doesn't work, please turn on "Troubleshooting" via Project Explorer's Help menu.  Recreate the error condition, and then send me a support request.  Again via Project Explorer's Help menu "Send Request Form".

Where is the 'Defer to Calendar' option?

Hi Chris, I can't find the Defer to Calendar option you mentioned above? BWTess

Defer To Calendar

You can find the Defer to Calendar on the right-click menu when selecting an e-mail, Defer -> To Calendar.  When reading an e-mail as an open object, the "Schedule Time" button on the ribbon performs the same action.
