Assigning an open email from the inbox to specific project

I am new to Organizer switching over from ClearContext. The one feature I seem to be missing is the ability to save an open email to a specific project after reading it.

Getting Started Guide

Please review the Getting Started Guide - it can be found in the Project Explorer's Help menu.

See pages 23 and 42.

Let me know if that doesn't clear it up.

thx

Assigning a new or reply email to a specific project

Let me clarify.  If I am starting a new email or replying to an existing email, I don't see a place to add the project if I want to store the email to an Outlook project folder.

Categorized Sent Mail Item

In the current release - it is possible, using Outlook, to assign a category (Project) to an e-mail that is to be sent.  After the send button is pressed the e-mail appears in the Sent Items folder and is categorized to the project.  When you open Project Explorer and select that project, the sent mail will show up in the view.

In order to categorize a new e-mail message (New or Reply message) - create an e-mail, select the Options tab, and select the small arrow in the lower right hand corner of the 'More Options' button group.  That will launch a properties dialog where a category can be assigned.  After the Send button is pressed the sent mail item will be categorized to the project and stored in the Sent Items folder.

Not super convenient, but can be used to keep Sent mail connected to a project.  I will look at adding a Project button to the Mail compose form to make this much easier.

Thx
Chris

UPDATE: Just added a Project button to the ribbon for composing a new mail item in version 3.5.1007 - look for the release in a few weeks.

Hello,maybe I can help with

Hello,

maybe I can help with this request.

I also missed this functionality. But I believe, this is the way to do this...

If you create if you create a new email you should do this out of the project explorer. If you do that, it will automaticly be assigned to the selected project.

if you want a reply to be assigned to a project, the only way i know to connect the mail to a project. Is to do this with the std. functionality of outlook (categories which is an option in message options). The .. bad news is this option cannot be selected in the reply function of my version of outlook :-(...

So my work around was to add the message options to the quick access toolbar in outlook. You can do this yourself. If you need any help.. just let me know.

Anyway.. in my opinion... The organizer doesn't help you with this.

But I fully agree.. would be very helpful if this would be done by the software.. Chris request ? :-)

Hope this helps,

Hugo

Assigning an open email from the inbox to specific project

Thanks for the replies.  I have been experimenting with the Options|More Options|Categories assignment solution.  It works but takes way too many steps when processing a lot of email. An Organizer ribbon command button is something I look forward to!
